Welcome harris, Lots of good info here. Be prepared to read a lot then ask questions if you can not find the answer. A 20 gal is pretty lg for the average hobbiest but to each his own. If your looking to make White Lightning your probably looking for a pot still. There are great designs out there and on the Brewhaus.com web site. This is a great hobby but not to be taken lightly. Safety first. Have fun and "Don't tell, Don't sell"

Sorry that was a typo meant 10 gal still. Im debating on using a thump keg and noticed that was a hot topic at sometime on the forum here. I would like to get some hands on experience with someone here in eastern Va to help me with the run times, temps and making cuts.

Ain't nothing to it but to do it.
Run time, temps and cuts.
Run times will get figured out when you get the temps dialed in. And for cuts use 1/2 pint jars to collect you product. Then the next day go back through and open and smell. Make your cuts from them. That will help.

The more reading you do on this site, the less of a learning curve you'll have. There's a lot of experience here and most are willing to offer and advice counting on their experience. This is a great forum. Good luck."

Hey Harris. Glad to have you in the group. Just got to do it to find out how your system works. Personally, I sample a few drops of product along the way to make my cuts. Watch temp and proof. Heads...Hearts...Tails. Have Fun with your new Hobby.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm all ears when it comes to distilling. I have been reading a lot of the threads here in the forum. I will definitely be using small catch jars to help distinguish my cuts and labeling time temp and so on. Keep the tips coming guys it is very informative. allibugger I sent you a email.
