"Hi, first time distiller here. I have been reading ALLOT about how to make a rum mash, and I am'very confused about how much yeast to use.
I found this recipe which I wanted to try :
1 gallon feed grade black strap molasses (3.78541 L)
4 gallons water (15.1416 L )
7 pounds dark sugar (3.17515 KG
If I would use bakers yeast, how much would I need to use for this recipe? Is there a formula??

I greatly would appreciate any feedback :)RollEyes"

What up 34? Welcome. The exact amount of yeast is not that critical because It multiplies until the job is done anyway. For a 5 or 6 gal wash I usually just sprinkle around 1/4 cup of Fleischmans bakers yeast on top, wait 10-15 min, stir it in and put cover on with an air-lock. You might want to add some nutrients to that recipe also.
