Hey guys - OK- I've been out of the game for a while, and am going to get back in within the next few months when I have more time and space again. For now, I have a carbon filtering question. Just for a quickie project, I went out and bought some gut wrench vodka - like $12/1.75L bottles. I used my brewhaus filter with prestige stone carbon, .4-.855mm. I had it coming through at just about 4 drips a second, and the final product didn't come out really any better than what I put in. I thought you could filter just about any vodka to make it good. I boiled the charcoal 5 times, and let it site for just about 24hours. Now, i did use tap water, does that make a difference? Any ideas?
Thanks!
(Oh- I should point out the carbon is old. Does that matter?)

Thing is, I was hoping to skip that for now as I won't be able to do a run for probably 6 months.
Theoretically, shouldn't it have worked?"

OK! That makes sense. I was thinking "why can you make vodka from anything you want including sugar and have it turn out great after filtering?" and now I realize, because you're still getting rid of the heads and tails, and they're probably too nasty for charcoal to handle, Thanks!!!
