I was wondering if anyone had a pic on the PSII HC of how all the water lines get hooked up. I understand how most of them get hooked up except for the one that have the ball valve and the other one that has the T.

they got a pretty good pic in the guide they send along...There's also a pic on here somewhar too.. You use either depending on what mode of run you are making - Pot or reflux
So, what mode? |

reflux, i seen in the book how it get hooked up but it didnt say anything about the T and shut off valve

from the input to the valve one line goes to the condenser and the other goes to the reflux where you can keep the water going to the condenser but be able to turn it off to the reflux

I must be having a retarded moment or have drank way to much,lol I get that but there is also a line with a T on it as well. You wouldnt happen to have a pic of how it goes would you.

where the water is coming in 1st put the T with a piece going to the condenser then a really short piece to the shut off valve then the piece to the reflux. That way no water can be shut off from condenser only reflux

Since we are talking about cooling lines, here's a question on the cooling water. I haven't run a still for anything in a long time. I'm getting ready to get it up and running again. Last time I ran, it, I remember my reservoir water (in like a 25 or 30 gallon trash can) getting hot very quickly, so I kept adding ice. I don't currently have a good local ice source. How important is the temperature of the cooling water? Is it OK if it's warm? WHat solutions do you guys have? How does everyone else cool their column?

As long as the water is cool enough to condense the vapor coming through the condenser its fine. |

I use two separate reservoirs and pumps, 1- 32g trash can for the condenser and 1-55g plastic drum for the tower cooling. This is for running in reflux and works very well but when the weather is on the warm to hot side the tower water can get up in the 90's towards the last part of a long slow run. I start adding frozen 2 liter water bottles when it (the water) gets in the 80's and that helps a lot but I've had a few times when I used all my frozen bottles up and and the water got into the 90's I would put the return line in a 5g bucket (you need two) and when it gets full I switch the hose to the other bucket and go dump the first bucket on the wife's rose bushes and repeat when the next bucket is full, if it gets to where I need more water I just use the hose and top off the reservoir. I have a needle valve on the tower cooling water inlet hose and the condenser water has no valve and just free flows from the pump and never have an issue with that getting warm...
