"I need a new toy  I tried making beer but because i almost never drink anything i need something with extra long shelf life like wine or whiskeys etc. I really like the carbon filter that brewhaus sells because it has a valve on the bottom that i can use to control the flow rate. HOWEVER it doesnt have a cover and especially it doesnt have a handle or something else that would allow me to hang it in a convenient out of the way place. The valve at the bottom solves the most important problem of flow rate. The customer reviews talk about the ridge inside the bucket that prevents an un restricted path for the alcohol.. Does any one know if any of these items are being addressed????"

I guess mine is older than the ones that have the valve on the column, the flow rate seems fine though. It basically comes out about the same speed as what comes out of the HC still. If you wanted it slower all you have to do is to bump the side of the column and pack the carbon a little more. Bump it too much and it will take more than a day to empty the bucket. The weld on the inside of the bucket to the column can keep a little bit of product from entering the column but not enough to worry about. It would be an improvement if the bottom of the bucket was tapered to the center a little bit. I never thought about a hanger before, I just turn mine upside down in a storage room and put a coffee filter over the end of the column. Seems to me that tapering the bottom of the bucket would be an improvement but it works pretty good the way it is. I use a tupperware bowl cover for the bucket when it's in use.

I want the hanger to hold the unit some place when it is in use. I'm mistaken about the valve, its just a place to attach a hose. I stil like that feature but would prefer a valve.

Heck, I do it like mntwalker - just put some carbon in the bottle & shake it up every now & then.

I built a stand for it to sit in that I just 'C' clamp to a benchtop in the garage.

I concure with Scotty ......theres always a new toy to pick up, or a new autosyphon or airlock to try.

I took a piece of 3/4 plywood, cut a round hole (so the ss funnel fits) flange holds it in place.
Short 2x2 screwed to wall, holes drilled through the back edge of the plywood, and the 2x2 (to drop pins) in my case nails into.
One 2x2 leg from front of plywood to floor. One screw into front of plywood ( can be twisted to storage.)
When not using, remove pins, trist plywood 90 degrees, Leave room under for tube and jug. Works for me!
