What is the best type of water to use when diluting your shine from 160 to 80? We have tried tap water, bottle water and the results are major air bubbles. Thanks for your assistance

"Hi TIMR,
Air bubbles aren't unusual & they should eventually work their way out. If it bothers you enough, you can boil & cool the water before diluting. The boiling will drive the O2 out of the water. If you're using city water there may be some chlorine & the boiling will help get rid of that as well. If it's treated with chloramine the boiling won't remove it.
Regards, --JB"

Thank you JB. Just learning the different reactions to coming up with a completed product. I have read that once you add water to dilute your proof that the Alcohol meter will not be accurate. If so, how do you know what you are diluting your completed product too? Again thanks for your assistance.

the alcohol meter will work fine with distilled spirits diluted with water as long as there is no residual sugar because it only measures the density of the liquid compared to the alcohol. When you put the alcohol meter in the sample spin it to dislodge any air bubbles which will make the meter float higher resulting in a lower reading.

I aggree with diesel, I think your measurements will be fine. If you're off by a point or two, for whatever reason, nobody will know. And after a few ounces, nobody will care.

I usually buy a case of bottled water, you know the ones that everybody carries around. I can't say it's distilled or not but it works fine for me.
