Does a thumper need to be air tight, I aam planning to try a gallon glass jug with a twist on lid for a thumper, will that make a decent thumper? RCM

"It's not ""air tight"" since there's a free path for the vapor leaving the thumper to move along to your condenser/worm. But otherwise, just like your boiler, riser, column, etc., there shouldn't be any leaks.

I know that some folks use glass, but something as simple as an unintentional ""bump"" can crack or break glass ... accidents happen ... so you might want to think about using stainless or copper."
