I have a 5 gal keg sitting around and was wondering if it would be overkill to use on top of 15.5 gal keg as a column for a pot still? Then build my condenser coming off of it. I have a psII hc but would like to give a try at building a simple pot still so I can dedicate it to making just whiskey and rum runs. Have been doing all neutrals up to this point and would like to progress in this hobby. Pretty much the reason I bought a still instead of making one, was price and safety aspect of building one. But as time goes on , I have been finding good deals on things I need to build one, not being in a hurry helps on finding cheap and or free stuff for the projects. For 56 bucks I figured out how to do what I need to do to make the keg work and to build condenser for it. Nuttin worse than over thinking things.......

As far as running rum, is a thumper actually needed? The easy fix I was referring to was, bought a 3" to 2" reducer to fit the 15 keg so I could run my reflux head on it. Also have a tri clap with end cap to drill and put in piece for pot still head to use on keg or flip it over and use on my 8 gal kettle with the 2" cap I also received to just run a pot still head on that. Have done alot of reading on here and other sites to see other peoples ideas and ways of doing things and I do actually appreciate the feed back from folks like you and others that have time and knowledge under their belt.......Have a Merry Christmas.
