I am building a still for the first time. I have a 15 gallon keg and 20' of 5/8 od soft copper tubing for the worm. I plan on using propane. I am trying to figure out if I should have a 3" column or 2" and how tall should the column be? Any help would be appreciated

If you have to buy the 2 or 3 inch copper then go 2 inch it will work just fine and it's cheaper.
As for the worm copper.....I suggest you make a liebig type condenser. It takes 1 inch and 1/2 inch rigid copper to construct and will work MUCH better then a worm especially with the bigger tower diameter. Nowthen these are just my opinions but I know first hand that these idea's will work.

Thanks Heeler. I was thinking about making a Liebig condenser. What is the advantage over using a worm setup?

Mikeebr -- check out http://moonshine-still.com/ this is a good place to start. I used 2" for my column and 3" for the condenser which houses the coil using 1/4" tubing. The boiler is a 15 gal keg and the column is mounted using a tri-clamp. The instructions were easy to read and follow and the one I have has two styles to build.
