Below is some research I located reading up activated carbon. This was produced from the University of Louisville in 1943. It's a pretty thorough study on using it specifically on whiskey. http://distillers.tastylime.net/newSite/articles/Activated_Carbon_Treatment_of_Raw_Whisky/index.htmcliff notes - heating up 1 liter of whiskey with .4grams of activated carbon, shaking for 30 minutes improves taste.
