Does anyone know how high % the amazing still can produce asuming the mash is at 18% , turbo 48 , ?If distilled 3 times will this type of still produce high %?Also any ideas for 'smoothing ' the spirit after ?I already filter with carbon.

the answer to your mutliple runs question isnt necessarily a concrete one. if you start with 18%, and run it at 1/3 of a fermentation volume per run, then you can fairly accurately know the % abv after one run. but the %abv after a second run will be determined by: how hot you run the still, how much you collect, the beginning %abv, and how much you put into the still. even knowing those values doesnt give an exact answer. the amazing still just isnt that precise. its cheap, easy, and small ,which is exactly what i needed,. to my knowledge, there is no calculator out there for the amazing still like there are for reflux stills etc... if anyone knows of some amazing still calcs or has done runs similar to this and knows how it will go, please let me know.

If I was to try to distill a second time is the end result going to different at all ?Not really looking for quantity just quallity.I have finished my first run and the product is good but only 37%...a little weak.It also isn't as smooth as I thought it would be any ideas ?Thanks For your help !

the smoothness other distillers refer too getting from their reflux stills in my opinion is not obtainable with the amazing still. how many liters of 37% did you collect? for a nice average run, i would expect to collect 4L or so of 37%abv from an 18%abv mash.

you can also improve the quality somewhat by lowering the heater temperature ,i.e. - the difference between ambient temperature and the still temperature.,

I think I got just under 5L .I will try distilling a second time at a lower temp.Hope fully it will be a bit smoother and a bit stronger.

generally speaking:

^ smoothness :: v temp diff ^ temp diff :: v smoothness ^ %abv :: v collection volume ^ collection rate :: ^ temp diff

yeah, i had it better ,line by line, but the formatting didnt pick up and it went to one line of text...

smoother = smaller temp diff... larger temp diff = higher collection rate... higher volume collection on run = lower %abv collected... higher %abv collected = higher beginning %abv ,usually mash %abv,.

hope that one come out looking better than my last try.

thanks! What is the reason behind smaller temp diff.Does a hight temp pull impurities ?
