So I've got my second run all finished and I'm letting all my collection jars sit overnight to off gas. My question....... During these colder months would it be advantageous to leave them in the garage at 30-35 degrees or bring them in and set em up on the table at room temp?? I've done some research on this forum and also have looked around at Tony Acklands site but haven't been able to find any definitive info. Anybody have any opinions on this. Thanks.

Degassing is best done when the wash is warm. Clearing will happen more quickly when cold.

I'm not talking about wash I'm speaking of finished distillate. Or do the same rules apply when talking about both. I know that a cold environment will speed the clearing process in a wash after fermentation but what about "off-gassing" finished distillate with paper towels or coffee filters on top to facilitate the evaporation of the nasties. I was just wondering which is a better practice cold or room temp?

I would personally go cool, to help reduce evaporation of ethanol. You can also bottle it, leaving space at the top for gases to gather, and reduce this issue.

That's the answer I was looking for and what my gut was telling me. Stay cooler than warmer and don't disturb it. Thanks. Once again great info for newbies like me who have more questions than answers.
