I spray schlack for finish on woodwork. I use Everclair apposed to denatured alcohol. Would there be any catch 22 with permitting a still for this use , Everclair is pricey

Depends on your locale an laws an such. For instance, Florida doesn't allow the still at all

Texas on the other hand, allows possession of the still. In "dry" counties of Texas, a person can have up to 2 quarts consumable. In non-dry counties - no consumable, but the still is still permissible to own. If you are going to make spirits for woodworking, consider the AFP small permit - Free and will allow you to produce alcohol as a solvent - At least at the Federal level. You still have state concerns. I myself have an AFP small. You have to keep track of your runs and document where the solvent products go, whether you use, dispose, or, burn Cool

Howdy Friend,

Thanks for the info.Trying to figure Fed and State regs can be a pain. I will look at the Texas statutes again , the exemption for dry counties news to me but of course I in a dry.
