Had a thermo mishap. Wouldn't read above 172f. I didn't know this at the time. Sooooooo I kept adding heat slowly trying to get to 175-176. In turn I have smeared a good portion of the run. Simple sugar wash with turbo. 17% going into the boiler. About 26 liters worth. Halfway thru the run is when I realized the therm was bad. Had a lot of pulsing thru the parrot and I started deducing the problem. Second half of the run is better. My question....... Can I add the first 1.5 -2.0 liters of smeared heads and hearts into my next wash to try and recover what I lost? Or should I just ditch it and chalk it up to learning curve. The " bad" stuff is 92-94 ABV but smells HORRIBLE. just hoping I can recoup the last souls........ Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just dump it in the boiler the next time you run or keep all your feints for and all feints run when you get enough. Just make sure it's under 40 %. I usually bring it down to 30 though

Make sure the WHOLE mess is below 40% correct? Anything over that and I risk certain "other" mishaps I presume..

One other question.... When I check for ABV for less than 30-40%...... What do I use ? Hydrometer or alc meter??

As I sit here and ponder this I would assume I use the hydrometer due to the fact that I am adding alc to a water based wash therefore necessitating the use of the hydro instead of the alc meter which would be used in an all alc base. Like the distillate

you use the alcohol meter because all you have is your feints . then dilute with water and read you ABV

The same if I add it to my next wash.? I dilute the feints down and THEN add to the wash for the next run? Not add to the wash then check the %.

if you add it to your next run I wouldn't worry about it because your wash is probably between 7 and 10% and what you add will not bring the ABV up that much. If you keep saving feints(heads and tails) until you have enough to do an all feints run is when you need to bring the ABV down
