I have gallons of heads I've saved over the years not wanting to toss them. I've recently started filtering (carbon) tails with good results and have thought about doing the same with Heads. Suggestions? Are they worth saving? Thanks in advance.

Sure they are. Mix them together, dilute, and do an all feints run

or, use the crappier smelling ones for charcoal starter I also created a neat way to ignite a burn pile (25' long and about 12' wide and 7' tall) I had...I combined a container of armed tannerite taped to a 1qt plastic jug of heads...Put that in the center of the pile at the base, then, I sent a 22 cal LR round downrange into it from about 75 yards out.. It looked just like one of them fireballs you see in the movies. She missed the pic, but it lit that pile up pretty good ! Edited by user Thursday, February 04, 2016 1:20:47 PM(UTC)

Hey RC, That sounds like a lot of fun. If you're doing it again let me know. I might take a road trip.

I have a table top ethanol fireplace for the heads and the tails. It is similar to this but I believe I have a different brand: http://www.ethanolfirepl...anol-Fireplace_p_47.html

I would guess the one I bought holds about a quart and burns about 3 hours.

I use what I get from the still, no watering down. Take a minute and look at their fuel which is E100, it is 98% alcohol. Your tails and heads will be a lot lower than that. Again, I don't think you got the same fireplace as me. When I got mine, I operated it outside for awhile to make sure everything was good.

You're right...outside will be for my trial. Our fireplace is called Moda Flame, made by ethanol Fireplaces.
My whiskey feints run 78%. If I do a full reflux run I can get a lot 0f 94%. I'll probably use that cause it's from just a sugar wash...and it makes sense.
Thanks for all the help.
Cal
