Here's a blonde ale recipe that's great for the summer. It's light-bodied, crisp & clear (similar to a typical lager), but with the ABV & flavor of an ale. And most important, it doesn't go overboard with the hops. So if you're not a big fan of the IPA, you might like this one. Target batch size: 5.5 gallon 8.0 lb Maris Otter 2.5 lb 2 Row 0.5 oz Amarillo @ 45 min 0.5 oz Amarillo @ 20 min Danstar Nottingham Ale Yeast (pitch below 70 F !!!) Mash @ 151 F 2 weeks primary (63 F - 69 F) 3 weeks secondary cold crash in refer. Approximates: OG: 1.051 FG: 1.010 ABV: 5.3% Bitterness: 20.5 IBU Color: 4.3 srm You may prefer a more citrus-fruit flavor. The Amarillo is a tad dull in this respect but still good. I think I'll use Magnum, Citra (or similar) next time. Enjoy, --JB Edited by user Sunday, June 12, 2016 6:43:50 PM(UTC)
