I just received my Pro Series and I used it last night with great satisfaction. I have read through the postings and most say it takes around 4 to 5 hours. With the 1100 heating element that you sent with the unit it took almost 7 hours to get above 76 C. It spent a lot of time between 65 and 70. Is this normal? What is the time I could reasonably expect to reflux 20 litres? I had the heating element set at 2.5.

You will definitely need to put the heating element on maximum. Anything below that will slow the entire process down considerably. 1100W is extremely well suited for the standard Pro Series II unit, and given a room temperature wash and reasonable surrounding temperature ,ie. you are not doing this outside in 10 degree weather,, you should be up to production temperature in about 2.5 hours.

I am in a very pristine environment here in Florida but it still took a lot longer than 2.5 hours. What is the total production time from production temperature until it goes above the 90 C mark? Using 5 gallons of product to start. Thanks for your help....

I believe that the biggest issue was not having the heat set at the maximum, so your hotplate would have continually cycled on and off, lowering your average heat input considerably.
