An interesting question, is there such a thing as a cheap commercially available declination still? If so and it can be brought cheaper than a DIY still, I want one.

I have seen a $100.00 canadian Sears countertop water distiller in operation...the feeder tube went to a pail under the counter. And what i tasted was a straight run right out of the unit. While it did taste of fusil somewhat It would have tasted better with a quick run through a brita water filter. I dont even want to elaborate on the hang over.

There are ways to make solar 'stills', basically these are made to distil water in the sunlight ,just like nature does everyday,, but I imagine you could find a way to keep it at the correct temp to get the good stuff out...

I assume that you're kidding about the Sears thing. Gullible me, clicked on the link too, like 'really? they do?' I am so easily led.

Just drill the hole out in the cone shaped end of the yellow part is all that is needed. It is the same size on both units but the 1 gallon unit puts out more distillate than the orifice can handle.

I read through this and I am blown away. Is there a way to monitor the temp on this thing?

"Im new to this distilling thing. I like the idea of making my own alcohol. I bought a water distiller online from http://www.webeatprices.com/pro...9d44cf4ace5a3cdff762d403. I heard that you have to make modifications to a water distiller to make it distill alcohol. Is that true? If so, what do I need to modify? Or do I just put my fermented mash in the distiller and distill it like water? Im confused as hell!! Someone please have a guide or help.

Thanks"
