I have the Pro Series II that I used for distillation with the copper mesh packing. I used the 8kg Turbo Yeast and dextrose for fermentation with some of the distiller's nutrients found on the site. I fermented it for 3 weeks because I didn't have time to distill it. Once distilled, it has a very noticeable ammonia smell. Was the addition of the distiller's nutrients a bad idea since it has ammonium phosphate and some how that is breaking down? Also I am carbon filtering it and there is a section of the filter tube that is hot. It slowly is working it's way down the tube. Is that an exothermic reaction of the carbon with the impurities? I have made beer for years but this is my first time distilling. Any input would be appreciated.

Adding additional nutrients to the turbo yeast would have left nutrients unconsumed by the yeast, hence the remaining ammonium phosphate.
