"Mine did too with tap water. A slight haze. I went to the cheep-o store an picked up a couple of gallons of spring water. That cured that. But I must say that after I added the essence it really didn't make any difference for me.
Now if your making Gin or Vodka, it may look a bit odd. But the taste will be fine :)
Drip it through a coffee filter maybe? I know its extra time but it may clear it up. Read around a bit I know I have read others with the same issue.
Overall I suppose it doesn't matter which is first - just allow it to settle for a while after dilution.

"I've heard its just calcium in the water. I had it happen once but I was using my local california tap water and had larger calcium deposits in it. I just filtered it with a coffee filter and started using distilled water for cutting afterwards and had no problems. Cheers! TS"
