Did you get 1.5l out of a 4l batch? i've noticed that the turbo yeast have a flavor & smell like that of the b12 vitamin suplaments i tried to use for nutrients. is that the smell? maybe you need to try and get closer to 95% alcohol on your runs, to try and strip that out of it. or else you can ferment apple juice or the likes with sugar added for a better pot still wash.

do you have an alcohol meter? i've just got a Essential extract HC a month or so ago, so i'm no expert. But when i do a reflux run on a turbo wash i can smell the b vitamins at 80-85% alcohol, but not to bad the wood covers it up good. but at the tail end of the run when the alcohol starts coming out at 65% and less the vitamin smell is really bad especially at the very end when i'm getting 50%, it's bad. What i usually do is keep the tails for a rerun. Seems to be working so far every 4 batchs i get a double batch. You might want to check into using wheat germ or the likes for nutrients, i just distilled my first wheat germ batch and it was alot better the a turbo wash. i'd say if your not getting above 80% pure alchol out of your amazing still, then your going to need to distill something that has a good flavor to begin with. Ferment just about any sweet fruit juice, or mash malted grains. Hope this helps, i'm still new to this but it sums up my expriences so far.

I get by with a little help from my (forum) friends. That's the ticket...redistill and add a little baking soda...keep an eye on the alcohol content...and presto...just like magic EtOH...just like the big boys...thanks again to everyone for your suggestions...

Only add the baking sode to the distillate with water so your still won't run dry during the second distilling. Don't add any baking soda to your fermented wash.
