Does a really cold water temp matter for doing a stripping run? What temp should the water be for doing a spirit run the best?

I am guessing you mean the water for the condenser? If so, the colder the water the faster you can run. Else, the volume flow of the water is also important. Both factors will dictate the speed of the stripping run. You can run as fast as yoour condensor can handle. You are not really worried about quality or cuts here. I use propane so adjust heat to suit what my condensor can achieve."

Its taking forever to do a stripping run. I think Im on hour 4 or 5 with the 6 gallon batch. Would much colder water helpthis dramatically. My tap water isnt as cold as I thought it was:) Gotta make lots of ice bombs for the spirit run.

"Wade Are you running in pot mode ? If you are running the cooling water through the column it takes a long time with a hot plate. I'm doing the same as mtn, cooking with gas ! ô╦ô"

I was not running in pot mode, both columns with no packing and no water to the column. I do have a turkey fryer but want to get the hang of the hot plate first for safety reasons.
