Out of curiosity If running the pro HCII in pot mode Using a digital Thermo.. what would you set the temp at? Assuming you have a well regulated hot plate. (dimmer switch and all that.) Quality is the aim here.

I use the 1500 & have bypassed the thermistor, I use a variable router controller (off of fleabay). For refluxing I run it wide open & use the cooling water to keep the temp down until I think I've refluxed enough, then I slow the reflux water slowly until the temp reaches 78c. It stays stable until the tails start coming off & temp quickly rises to 82c. At that point I shut it down since I don't really care about the tails.

No ice, I've got a 40 gallon horse tank I use & it's just starting to warm at the end. As far as heat goes I pretty much run it wide open & use the reflux water to keep the head temp down. I've found that fine tuning the water at the head really works well. I have been getting by with 1 pump (full flow on the condenser & tweaking the head) but I'm going to switch to 2 pumps with the control on the output of the head return line. It seems easier to tweak the head by controlling the water output vs the input. Keeping the line full of water but varying the output seems more stable, since getting air in the cooling lines effects cooling rates.

Now with all of this said I am using the pro2hc, I don't think you can run the 2"" pro2 wide open. Is this your stripping run or final? If stripping then just use the upper half of the column, no packing, water in condenser only & just pump it hard until you squeeze it all out."
