Yesterday I ran 16 liters of around 60% strippings and 1 quart of tails from last spirit run mixed with 8 liters of water in a stripping run using my 1500w hotplate. The abv was probably a little high but since I wasnt using a propane burner i felt pretty safe with this. After running off 100ml of foreshots and almost 2 quarts of heads I pulled 10 quarts of 95% of of my EE PSII HC! I listened to their advice and ran it cold and slow with 1 tbls of Baking soda per gallon and this stuff just came out awesome, no smell at all! Due to either my elevation or inaccurate thermometer (Brewhaus standard glass) or both my temp was very stable at 177* which was just right here as it came out nice and slow. So a big thanks to you two for all your knowledge! I started this at 10:30 am and finished around 3:00am and never even got into tails but was very tired and not greedy.

"Congratulations Wade, and you are very welcome.

But actually, it is we that should thank you. When you take the time to share what you know, and someone listens, and it actually works like it should, then reports the success, well it makes that persons day.

With your fantastic wines, it won't be long before you are a confirmed pot stiller= brandies and split brandies."

"Great job.

I think you'd want to pot still that rum cause after 80% you're going to lose your flavor."

I did pot distill it and its been sitting on oak for quite awhile now. I carmelized some sugar to add some color and flavor to it also. Its not great but not bad either.
