Is this better than letting it flow through the Carbon tube and then refine it further or is this just for the first stripping run that you let it sit and never run a stripping run through the tube because of so many impurities."

Mark, Useing carbon on the low stripped wines would be a waste. I have a carbon tube from brewhause, but will never use it again. Its alright if you need some cleaned immediately, but I try to keep a little ahead. I just put all my neutral into a 6 1/2 gal. carboy with a bunch of carbon and swirl it daily. Pour off what I want and filter it. So much easier, and actually cleaner if you can wait a bit. Wade. I also make 95% all the time. As you mentioned, do try some with carbon. You will be totally surprised at the difference, and when you go to clean the carbon, the stench will let you know what you evicted."

I was going to post that about wasting time with low wines but didnt have neough knowledge to make the statement. I was pretty sure that it was worthless though. I will do the carbon this time to all if you say its worth it, Ive read so many people saying that if you do a good job on distilling it then its not needed but Ill take your advice as you havent stared me wrong yet!

But put up against carbon filtered, a world of difference to my taste. Tails may be miniscle, but there will be just a touch, and carbon will purge them. There is enough movement in just storeing the carbon with the alc. to accomplish good filtration, particularly if you swirl and aggitate it every now and then. Run a sample and smell the discharge when you clean the carbon and you will know for sure. Then of course, taste and compare."
