That's what I have and I love it. Lots of flexability. Some guys get a little uppity about building their own still but it's no big deal. Not all of them and they have all been a lot of help to me. You may want to move this to a different section since it is primarily old system stuff.

Since I don't feel like doing much math this morning I'll just say....If you just count the ingredients, sugar and yeast, it's about $9 a batch. 8+ qts finished product ready to drink.

Pro2 HC is what I use & it works fine. If I was doing it more often I'd go ahead & build a bokabob rig & fire it with propane

I have read- studied all the different column and head desighns for several years, and can't find any that exceed the HC if properly run. Speed and quality. But thats my take.
As far as costs? I make a stripping run with propane, then a spirit run where i mak super deep cuts for total neutral- 95% and save balance for a future run. I soak 5 gal. on carbon for several months. My calculated cost is just less than $5 per liter. Yes, you can go cheaper, but I want the best. Thats for a sugar wash.
If thinking of whiskey, or brandy or others, the cost can skyrocket, but so does the quality of what you are makeing. If you do it right, you can exceed what you can buy at the highest prices and for cheaper.
Depends on what you like to drink and high a quality.
Hope everyone is haveing fun. This is a great hobby and art."
