Filtering using a 5' tube/funnel on top

Do I just fill the 5 foot funnel/tube up with carbon almost to the top and start pouring into the funnel, or do I need to wet it first? Should I put that much carbon in, or should I fill, say half the tube up? Any hints? Thanks!:)

You need to boil it to clean it -- you will see you will get lots of powder and that will be taken care of by boiling it and drying. Then pour it in your tube - to the top. You should have already put a small piece of cotton in the bottom of your tube - drill a small hole in the capand then pour your granuals on top ---- to the top. Now its ready to clean your hooch. Hope this helps.

There is a free e book on brewhaus.com the main page index on the left. The carbon after cleaning in fed into the tube wet, tube filled with water and then the alchohol added so no air can get in. Full details and the why's in that manual.
