"Hi, I'm new here, I just buyed some yeast like 1 month ago and I was planning to distill after fermentation.I just got informed that it is illegal to distill alcohol in this country so I have some question about how much the mash can be drinkable.I got the black label turbo yeast and the turbo pure 48,I'm planning to only ferment sugar with it. 1.If I follow all instructions and there is no contamination, can I drink it straight after I filtered the mash? 2.It is dangerous for methanol if I dont distill? -(these yeast are for high fermentation % so does it increase methanol somehow and thats why you need to distill to be safer?) Thanks in advance for your answer, this is greatly appreciated  "

Thanks in advance for your answer, this is greatly appreciated You didn't say what country. But if its NA US or CA, the officials don't really pay attn. They have bigger fish to fry. Unless you sell it. Just keep your mouth quiet and be moderate. Esp. after the first Pres. Busch gave a presidential parden to 2 brothers in TN. convicted of moonshining for their own use. More methanol in orange juice than a sugar wash. Way more in beer. Won't tast very good just drinking the wash, and like beer and wines, you will get all the side effects like a nasty hangover, and perhaps a puke. You can gget that from the box store brands too. Thats why so many home distill. Its cleaner and so much better. A lot depends on where you live."

"It wont hurt to drink it BUT you wont drink much. I have tasted mine before just to see but ooooowwwweeee.
You wont die from drinking it (your mash-cause of methols) because when you distill your mash, you concetrate each component of the wash. Thats why you disgard the first 100-150mls -- thats where the methols congerate.
Its a temperature thing, you'll learn that as you go along.

Do you have a still yet? If so what kind? It's not hard to keep things discrete, so I wouldn't worry about distilling. The feds are mainly looking for profiteers, not personal users.

Thanks for your reply.For now I only have a small distillation kit, my biggest flask is a 2 liter rbf so I believe that it is way too small to distill a 25 liter mash.I will try to make a small batch and try to drink the mash and i will post result, if it is not drinkable I might distill it with my small kit.If i'm understanding right I can drink the mash because the methanol is like in ppm but when I distill I know that I need to get rid of some of the "head" first to get rid of the methanol.
