I am thinking of getting into this as a hobby. One thing that I am curious about is how much liquor will a given mash generate? Say 5 gallons of mash or sugar wash will yield how much liquor?? TIA

Most yeast packs and recipes are set for 25 liter batches. With a typical 25L ,6.5 gal, sugar wash I will end up with 3 1/2 quarts of 95% distillant after I pull out the tails. Cut that down to 80 proof and you get 2 to 2 1/2gallons of finished product.

Elricko,
Thanks for the reply. Any tips you can lend to a newbie? Looking at getting into this as a hobby as I previously stated. I spoke with Rick
Brewhaus yesterday and gained a ton of info as well. Good group here.
