"How much am I going to lose if I use a 2' to 3"" adapter to go from a keg to my HC2Pro column? Is this going to choke me back to the point that it's no quicker than a 2"" column? Reason I'm asking is I'm moving to a keg & am deciding to whether to use a 3"" weld in tri-clamp ferrule or the adapter. I'm having water heater bungs welded in anyway so it's more a question of hiring a welder & setting the ferrule up straight w/o too many questions.

The other question is: How hard is it to weld stainless? I have a Lincoln Mig w/gas, but I'm not the best welder by any means."

if you put a 3 inch opening on the keg you can use the adapter to size down to a 2 inch and it will be ready for a 3 inch colums if you want to use one.. so why not just put the 3 inch opening on the keg????"

Use the reducer. You will not have any problems as there is no packing there to restrict it. Also, if there is any pressure difference as it goes through the hole it wil cool it stlighly and improve reflux."
