The first time I used my carbon it worked great. I then boiled and rinsed the carbon a few times and then baked it in the oven at 350F for 3 hours and it does not seem to be working well if at all. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried removing the packing from their column, filling it with the carbon and boiling pure water to steam regenerate the carbon. I hear that steam regeneration works well. What do you think?

At the small cost of carbon why would you bother to use it more than twice at the most ? I personaly don't think regeneration would be worth the effort unless you were doing a large quantity.

I found that 30 minuets in a pressure cooker under a 20lb knob does a wonderful job. Then I cook for 4-6 hrs at 400F or until it quits stinking. Don't forget to boil and soak before using it.

Maybe I am wasting time regerating the carbon, but I'm cheap and I can't help it :| I purchased the more expensive stone carbon just so I could regenerate it multiple times...

About how many liters of diluted 50-60% can be filtered through a 1.7 liter bag of pete before tossing it?

Is one bag of carbon enough for a 11/2inch 5ft. filter pipe ? Will a brita water pitcher filter realy work?

I HAVE USED A BRITA, IT WILL REMOVE EVEN A ROTTEN EGG SMELL BATCH BUT TAKES MULTIPLE PASSES AND TIME. I WOULD SUGGEST A SELF BUILT UNIT
