Disconect the supply hose to the column and while holding it the same level turn on the pump. If it won't issue water the pump is either clogged up or bad. If it does push water up make sure no air leaks on the down side and keep the return hose below water level to create siphon effect so pump will no longer have any head pressure to push against."

Also have a large ABC fire extinguisher always handy. so simular to boiling and collecting gasoline. Put your collection jug inside a pot with an inch or 2 of water in the pot. Many times I have had the colllection hose fall out ofthe collection jar or it has overflowed. Just a safety valve for my ignorance or forgetfulness."
