"AND OTHER SPIRITS--BY BILL OWENS AND ALAN DIKTY
Sells for 24.95 plus shipping at most paces that sell it new..

I have been drooling over this book for some time because the title tells me it will teach me the art of distilling whiskey.
Well being the frugal sort i waited till i found a like new but used copy for 16.40 delivered.'

this book is not what the title eluded me to believe. It is a beautiful book and loaded with beautifull pictures
of whiskey bottles, stills and distillerys.
it has descriptions of what diferent types of whiskeys are suposed to contain etc.

I scanned it in 1/2 hour. I usually take days to read, study and make notes on all of my books. Wine, beer and distilling.
The alaska bootlegers bible which i found to be a book not worth owning contained yards more information on distilling.

I just would like to give my review of the book to prevent others who want to learn the art of whiskey as badly as i do
from wasting money. the book is an informitave book in other areas however."

"Scotty, I see you mentioned the book -- The Alaskan Bootleggers Bible, well I fell for the same thing with that book. Loaded with stuff but not for us (so to speak) A waste of $$ in my opinion for a distiller like me. I saw the title and thought hmmmmmmm. But I've learned more on this site than from the few books that I've purchased. And of course I'm still learning.
Thanks for saving me approx. $$25 on the book you critiqued."

"Great links MW

Heeler, i was in little rock waiting for my lady to fly back from philly so we could drive back to florida- i went to a super book store and this bootleger bull was the only book they had--

wasted mone as far as i see. there are soo many books that are great reading and very informative for our hobby.

Now with this new library link we have access to books in a price range that i would not consider at this point in my distilling education.
:):)it woud do us all some good to have a book review forum--we could review books we have or ask about books we intend to buy.:):)"

as a newbie, the "how to make corn whiskey" book has proven to be the best read for me -- good starting point to give me the knowledge to really begin to understand the pearls of wisdom in some of these threads
