On heads, I hear ranges from 50-150ml for tossing out. I have always tossed the first 100ml or so, but I am wondering if this number increases with wash size? Like if I Move up to a 30gal boiler would I need to step this number up to 300ml??

"50 ml per 20 liter charge or so.
May not scale up exact. Thats why a bit more for good measure is best.
But your estimate sounds about right."

"Was that question about HEADS or FORESHOTS???? Cause the amount of heads may vary with diff mashes or washes. (i'm pretty sure???) 50-150ml's of foreshots to toss... heads may be a pint or more from what my sniffer has picked up. Once I ran a bunch of tails and heads and stuff out of my thumper and could swear I got a Qt. of the harshest sh-t you could imagine, before getting to what I would call the hearts. Now I'm no master, just interjecting my findings. I think use your snoot to find the end of the heads and the beginning of the smooth stuff."

After tossing out the first 150ml's I now collect in 200ml jars all the way through the run just to keep a strict track of everything. I had 12 jars lined up last time when I had to turn it off - but that was pretty close to the end for me anyhow. ABV and the smell is working for me now.
