"scotty,

This was one of the most favorite drinks in Europe. So popular, it was causing many of the French vineyards out of business. A huge campaigne was launched demonizing it as containing a drug within the main herb wormwood absinthium. The wine industry was so succesful and spent tons of money with lobbiest, that it was banned worldwide.

Lately, it has been realized it was all a hoax, and distilleries are once again making it or at least a version as most recipes were lost.

I have had some of the absinthe essences, all 3, that Brewhaus sells and liked them very much. I achieve a go louch with them. This year I planted some wormwood (its a very pretty plant) and picked enough leaves that I dried to run a batch sometime this winter.
Worth doing a google and reading about "" The Green Fairie"" There are also some Utubes on how to serve and achieve the 'louche'.
I would start with the essence to see if you or he llikes it first as its a rather complicated spirit to make."

"I've made absinthe a few times and really like it. I think there may be an attachment here that I posted with the recipe I used, using all natural herbs. Right now I've been working on a red absinthe and the small test batch I did really came out great, the louch using really looks great, almost a pinkish pastel color and the taste reminds me of the little candies called Good-N-Plenty. Doing the research on this liquor was almost as fun as making it. My final product abv came out around 90%.
Cheers!
TS"
