I have read several threads that refer to pitching the wash please explain what this refers to. thank you

Which means after you have made your wash from grains or sugar or whatever, it needs to have yeast placed into it to ferment the sugar and convert the sugar into alcohol. Pitching the yeast means placing, pouring or somehow putting the yeast into the wash so it can do its job.:)"

"I had to pitch a couple of sugar washes before i learned that it needed more nutrients.. Now at least i only pitch yeast. But I have become a great fan of a 2 liter starter bottle made partially with the wort."
