"Hello all,
I am new to distilling and bought a super reflux distiller off my uncle. My problem is that when I got it, I made some brews and got this really bad taste out of it, due to the stains in the still. I thought I would pull the condencer apart and wash it, after I put it back together I made another couple of brew and couldn't get the temperature above 75 degrees celsius even when the water is turned off. when purifying water, water comes out the output line which you would imagine means that the temperature is 100 degrees, but the thermometer only reads 75 degrees. I have been racking my brain as to why this would be...

The have change the thermometer and now only think that it could be the heating element..

If any one knows or could shed some light on why this could happen, I would really apreciate it.

Ben"
