"In the old days when the old timers made whiskey they used corn and sugar to my understanding. How did they get the wash going back then ?I never see a recipe posted that uses just corn and sugar. They didn't make a sour mash did they ? I have seen some old pictures where they had open 55 gallon drums for fermenting, not air tight at all. Anyone know any history in this area ?
I think I would like to try an old recipe just for the fun of it."
