"I've two of the older Kenmore Distillers, the newer unit would be much harder to modify and is much faster at distilling water. For the older units, I've figured out how to control the pot temperature. My only concern is the Alumunim worm, I've read that that can lead to nasties in the final product. Any thoughts?

I have an alumunim keg and have always wondered about the same thing. I posed the question here a while back and got mixed answers. So for now, I'm holding off on using it.

"I've heard of people using kegs, assume they're all aluminum because of weight.
Beer/Soda cans for example are usually lined with a very thin layer of plastic. Don't know about kegs?"

Many of us use beer kegs. They are almost all SS, but there were in years past a few made with al. There are easy tests that you can look up to check, but any new types of the last decade or so should be good. They make excellent boilers, and are easy to hook up with triclamps and an O ring.
