Hello all. I have been reading through all of the posts here at the Brewhaus forum. It is amazing to me the knowledge of the people who visit here. I feel bad that I can not give any viable scientific data to anybody, because I am just a machinist. My question is how many of you that subscribe to the brewhaus forum are chemist's, scientist's. I thought that I would ask since this is a "Just for fun" page............Mark

"Mark
Do not be intiminated. ( sp)
I have a friend and neighbor that is a machinist and he makes me feel real stupid !!!!

I feel that most of these guys on this forum have learned from the school of hard knocks and from their mistakes.

At one time I had a client that was

An MD Medical Doctor
Worked for NASA
Will not discuss religion because that is personal

But had the common sense of some one that fell off of the turnip truck.
All joking aside, really love this web site.

I'm a jack-leg chemist. Right now I'm working on perfecting a project for turning beer into urine. Results look promising....:)

I have the degrees and can handle titrations and tell you how many parts per million of what contamination is in the brew. That said, I am really envious of the beautiful copper work some of the guys do here and am busy soldering filing and polishing to catch up.

I was a zoology major and though that required a certain amount of chemistry I always struggled with that. Some of the stuff here is definately learned in its own special knowledge base. It's always interesting though to see things like that put to practical use. Good tasting use at that :)

"Aye, I was an educated idiot. I was a top notch nuclear phycisist with associated degreas in Chemistry, EE, hydrodynamics etc. Almost all was open book and taught me how to learn from a book. And then use it. Has been the basis of my life. worked super well with my building and farming disciplines. Now also this hobby. i learn from everything I read. Conservatively apply it and test it. Most hints and suggestions from those knowledgeable always work out so learned to listen. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, I want smooth ride. shock absorbers included. Thats what this forum is all about.

What works perfect for begginers, answering questions for newbies, and exploring high tech engineering issues.

Keep it diverse and educational for each level.

John"

"I fall far below some of these guys in education but my IQ has been scored in the 150ish bracket, but still I haven't produced a good brew.
The secret on here is to ask approiate questions and pay attention to the answers, then if in doubt ask again!
I will get it right but it may take me a while. My job requires me to be away from home for many days each year, and that makes it hard to perfect anything."

"I scored embarrassingly low on the IQ tests of the day. And usually start out slower and more guarded than my peers.

Always depended on my ability to out hustle with perfectionism and depended on my ability to replicate what those smarter than me could muster.

UUhh, I'm a dumb ass that trys harder. I'm ok with it.

My woman is almost always the most beautiful woman in the room, and I can lick most of the fellers standin in the room. And if I can't my big (big) brother is the meanest SOB that I know.

Always happy to help and always pleased to make new friends to compensate for my,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, science deficiancies."

"LWTCS, the high numbers will not get us thru life, but common sense will. This was the meaning of my post, not an attempt to brag or put anyone else down.
When it comes to the subject matter of this web site I'm a dumba$$, and I'm a little ashamed of that.
Back in France during WW2 my father built a still and turned their basement wine into drinkable whisky for his C.O. but I cant even make a drinkable whisky here during peace time!
This is why I am member of this wonderful site."

HA. In this hobby it all depends on the time of day. IQ slides down the hill after 5 as you can tell from many of my posts. AND, if you have the prettiest woman in the room you ain't gonna be focusing on chemistry talk and such. Relax, you can always find time to focus on packaged yeasts and a bit of sugar. OOPS, its after 5!!!!!!"
