Hi All, Just got back from Brazil and was reading all the messages on my favorite topic-Distallation. First on copper mesh in the tower, I removed mine and put the cermic rings back in due to the bad smell from the black copper and no I did not heat it fast and did not let the brew run up the tube. Don't know why this does this but I suspect that it is bad copper, not pure, just household type scrubbing type, that dosen't work..not for me don't like the smell. Second, Running the product thru the carbon is the only way to go. My first few batches were not the greatest, had a smell and slight taste. I tried everything you can think of, longer fermentation, purer water etc, nothing seamed to work, did the carbon filter and GREAT product. No smell, no taste and great mixer with the essances. No really it works. Used a 36' piece of 2' pvc schedule 40 pipe, a 2/4 adapter and put 8' of 4' pvc on the top, on the botton a cap and drilled several very small holes in it and I heat water to boil and then pour two gal.s or so thru and let it all run out before putting the product in and then after it is all out run the amount of water that you are going to cut it with thru. Comes out great, no, GREAT!!!! Those are my two cents worth for now..great reading and hearing from everyone, keep it up... cheers...

Mrnrtdy, As far as the 60 degree temp for the fermentation... I dont know exactly, but I would think that a turbo yeast ,like a turbo pure 48, should work. They seem to be somewhat resillant to certain factors, temp being one of them. But it would surely take longer than normal to reach completeness. I dont think that 60 degrees is too far off from the ideal fermentation temp. I know they make the heating pads for the fermentation vessels. If nothing else, maybe that would be a good idea. Whatever, give it a try.... hope that helps. I know that this info on my part, is truly limited. Also, welcome back Jimbull.

I dont know if this is 100% i mean you wont go blind or anything but toss out at least 50ml of the heads. after that with the tails they decrease the % and ass up the taste but if u like them feel free to keep them. Also the less strain you can put on the carbon the better and longer you will have them. besides I always keep mt tails and throw into next batch. do you not do this?
