Can I assume at 166 and up to 172 anything that is collected would be the bad stuff which I threw away about 4 oz and actually it quit making and didn`t resume making any distillate until it got into the high 170 to 180 range,is this about normal on a pot still? rcm243

Pot still should make from about 70*c up to water. When pot stilling (stripping) I toss the fist 100ml or so & then collect up to about 92*, after all it is strip. I'm a tad bit more picky when running spirit.

Adjust for slightly lower temps if at elevation."
