Hello everyone...Been studying this stuff a long time and would love to try to get started. If anyone would be kind enough to offer their advice on exactly how to get started, what I need to buy, etc...i would much appreciate it. I know very little about it other than what I have read, mostly here, but I would be happy to send my email or tx number to chat with one of you. Thanks again for everything I have picked up here all ready...

I would start by getting a Essential Extractor Pro Series II High Capacity and a 1500 watt hot plate or even better a propane burner if you dont have nosy neighbors as it will be much faster with gas burner. Then you will also need to get a fermenting bicket and a carboy. It is best to start off with a sugar wash which is about 10 lbs of sugar to 6 gallons of water and a wine yeast or 15 lbs of sugar to 6 gallons of water with a turbo 48 yeast. If using wine yeast you should buy some yeast nutrient and some acid blend to add to help the yeast survive and thrive.

An exact ditto and recommendation. Just hope he keeps that bottle in front of him. Know I will. Nothing frontal cut off or out.

Wade and Mtnwalker...Thanks a bunch for the advice. I live in the sticks and have quite a bit of property so neighbors are no problem. It sounds like gas is the way to go. I am looking for a good place to order all of the stuff I need burner, ingredients, everything. Is there a place you guys recommend? I have seen several recipes but I know there is more to it than meets the eye. I am looking for a step by step tutorial on the whole process. I know it is probably hard to come by that but what you guys have just given me is the most I have received by far. If you were just beginning...what would your order look like for everything...I can tell you guys know what your talking about so I have full trust in what your saying, thanks again!

Heres my list. Do you have a wine supply store near you as you could get that stuff there without paying shipping.
This tuff you can get at Wine supply store.
7.9 gallon fermenting bucket with drilled lid and airlock
6 gallon carboy with multifit bung and you airlock.
Acid Blend, Yeast nutrient and wine yeast like Red Star premier Cuvee or Lalvin EC-1118

This stuff you can get right here by clicking on the very bottom link at the right that says Brewhaus
Turbo yeast, Carbon, and maybe some essences if you are looking to flavor your neutral.

You can get a Turkey fryer Home Depot for around $35 and it usually comes with a 7 gallon aluminum pot so you can also use it for cooking anything when not distilling. The distiller comes with instuctions that are pretty straight forward but if you want more help then once you have all this stuff and before you start your first batch log on and we'll walk you all the way through, until then just keep reading as you will pick up a lot of stuff, thats what I did but I still had some questions that Mtnwalker and Ratflinger graciously walked me through.

"You'll definitely be on the right track with the previous instruction. Nice thing about this hobby is that it's really hard to screw up a wash so bad that it's useless. Something goes wrong, just rerun it. When you get your new toy you want to clean it real well. I'd get about 3 gallons of really cheap wine & put it in the pot with a couple of gallons of water. Practice your temp control & experience how your still functions. After it cools, pour the cuts back in & try it again. You need to experiment with your water controls to see how the different flows affect the temp & output. BTW - this really cleans your still & packing, just don't drink any of this - it's only for practice while your wash is fermenting. After you're done rinse everything real well with water.

Personally I use 2 buckets & 2 carboys, that way I make enough wash for 2 stripping runs & the next day I make the reflux run. I already have everything for my wine making, so it does double duty.

Save the gallon jugs for your final product, never use anything but glass for your strip or finals.

Just ask plenty of questions, but give us a little time to get back to you."

Thanks for all the replies guys. I am meeting a new friend that has this down to a science one night this week. Hoping to gather a lot of info from him. I am reading everything I can on here so if anybody wants to add anything it is greatly appreciated. I will keep you guys informed how it goes, hoping to start it next week if I have everything gathered by then...
