Fred, This is probably more than you wanted to know about O2...but here goes. We use O2 in our plane. I have a large tank that I purchased new several years ago (I don't swap it out for refills). It is filled with "welders" O2. From that, I fill the smaller tank we use in the plane. So...your O2 should be fine for your wash! No worries. After researching the O2 issue for the plane...the difference between welders and medical grade O2 is the label they put on the tank. It's a liability thing...so you pay more for the label! Our local supplies has two large O2 tanks...one says Oxygen and the other says For Medical Use Only. (My friend that works there says it's the same stuff, filled from the same tank...again, labeling for liability reasons). There is, however, an aviation grade of O2 and the only difference there is a certified maximum moisture level (and you pay dearly for this O2). (Any moisture in the O2 can freeze at high altitudes)...not a problem for us! One word of caution; It is possible to get acetylene gas backed into an O2 tank! This can happen (although it's hard to do and depends on the type of torch being used...) when an O2 tank runs out and basically some gas backs up into the tank. They don't check tanks before filling them. However, take 4 or 5 deep long breaths off your tank. If it's got any acetylene in it you will be able to smell it and if there's a lot...you will have a strange metallic taste in your mouth. That little bit for testing won't hurt you. I say...go for it!:)
