I age my whiskey with wood chips before I put it into barrels, gives it a little jump start. When I take the drink out and cut it , some of the color lightens. So what i have done is put wood chips in my H20 for a while. That way when its cut I do not lose that nice dark color.

Hey KornKob, that's a good idea. I just stumbled across your post but I can use this info since I also age my brandies with wood chips, but I don't have a barrel so I just use a glass jug for this. Any suggestions?
THANKS a million!
