I was under the impression that a still should have a thumper to work properly, how do these Brewhaus stills work without one? I am considering ordering their pot still. Glenn

"I think you need to read up on it some. I bought 'MOONSHINE!' by Matthew B Rowley, and ""MAKING PURE CORN WHISKEY"" by Ian Smiley.
It's all explained very simply: the process, still designs, grains, yeasts. Step by step instructions included on using pot stills and reflux stills to make traditional and historic recipes, and modern methods using more control and measurement. Very interesting reading too."

Glenn Welcome Glen, A potstill is good for reduceing water while still retaining much of the flavors from grains and fruits etc. The thumper was used as an additional plate or 2 to achieve a higher proof and purity. Todays reflux columns do the same thing easier and much better for a 95% pure neutral or anywhere in between. Just a pot still is fine for flavored drinks. Just depends on what you want to make."

"I'm just wanting to get my feet wet and make what I consume. Moonshine or burbon and that sort of thing with a little expirimenting along the way. I'm already finding that there is more to this hobby than I expected. What is the best way to get a good reflux still and save some money at the same time. I have a 15 gal beer keg and a miller 250 tig welder, a lathe and mill But no good plans!"
