"Stoped in to visit my friend and say hello to all.
I run a soooped up version of a potstill with a thumper.
Seems like a nice community here and I surely needed a ""stillin talk"" fix.
Evening to all.
L.T."

"Welcome LT,
Some love their thumpers and they do work well. Great ole timey way of running a cleaner product.
Most now will use a reflux column with only a very small amount of reflux to accomplish the same thing A little easier, and they can increase ti again to equal 2 thumpers. But thumpers are a charm, and reflect back to our ancesters. Chracter of quality, and keeping the old ways alive are much appreciated by me."

But I like mine."

"No heeler. That is another HD member.
But if I ran a reflux unit that would be a ""go to"" recipe for me."

"Mine just finished... after 4 days and 1 to settle. It even smelled good while it was fermenting. I DID use a reflux tower and I took off about 3 1/2 qts. Thats from a 5 gallon mash -- nice and slow, you can smell that cereal and its not that bad. I've heard folks say mine smelled like puck but this never did. Give ur a whirl."

"I'm a potstiller so I prefer the All Bran Recipe best.
So,,, the All Bran has a nice wheaty carry over. And in my experience, ferments more aggressively than the Gerber.
Both great and dead simple recipes.
I wouldn't worry about any pukyness as you reflux fellers can still that out any how."
