"Its hard for me to find time to run my still. Never in the growing season, and in the winter, I need a nice day.

So, as an early Christmas present, I bought a new HC keg unit to go with my older one. The new hoses and welding is way superior to the older. Going to have to get some new hose for it.

Then for New Years, I bought my self a high performance propane heater. One that should boil a keg full in less than 15 min.

So now, I'll be running 2 at the same time. One with the top half only as either a stripper, or pot stilling grains or brandies. The other as a 6' tall reflux of stripped low wines. Should be able to run it faster, and get much cleaner, if possible, 95+.

Trying to strip enough now, to be ready when the burner arrives. Probably in a week or so.

"I posted this before, but its been a while, since there are so many new members that have the HC unit (can't speak for others).

When doing a stripping run for neutral, useing only the top half, I find my collection speed is limited to what the condenser can handle. I pack the top half with 2 rolls of copper, pack around the cooling tubes, and run it with water through the tubes. Add more heat and I can strip a run way quicker, as the vapors are cooled some before reaching the condenser. I just add more heat and increase the vapor flow. Higher ABV for the strippings also.

Live and learn and sometimes you get lucky."

Sounds (conceptually) similar to what I have been trying to do with my dog dish cooler that sits atop my refining orb.

Will you increase your condenser capacity or keep things the way they are?"

Doing it the way I am, I won't need to modify it. I can, after takeing the heads off slow, collect the hearts at over a gallon/hr at 95%. Same for the stripping run though lower %. Stripping with the condensor alone, about half a gal./ hr. was tops.
