I have made 4 runs of sugar and wanted to try a recipet I found on line using sweetfeed and sugar. I made 25L using 4" of grain & 5 lbs sugar with prestige wd with ag. The stuff raised cain for about 30 hrs at room temp of 68 deg with a mash temp of 25 celc. I cannot tell if fermintation has stopped and ready for distilling or needs to sit awhile longer. 4-5 days was the recipe. Started 12 Monday afternoon was thru 2 yesterday. I thied hydrometer but can only get it to barely stay above level showing nothing. Anybody got any ideas!!!!:)

5# isn't a lot of sugar for a 25 liter wash, so fermentation is going to be quick. Your hydrometer is saying its good to go. Taste the beer. If its sour and not sweet, no sugar, run it.

Jabbo, One other thought and question. When you said all the grain dissolved, did you mean it floated and formed a cap? If so, it needed to be pushed back under and very gently stirred. Once or twice daily. Also allowing it to go an extra day or so allows the ag to draw more flavor and sugars out of the grain. Not necessary though if your wash is finished fermenting. Just a question about your meaning dissolved.
