"Where and what brand of electric water heating elements are you guys buying? All the screw-in elements I've found so far use an NPSM thread (National pipe straight mechanical). The weld in couplings from McMaster Carr are all NPT. What gives?

Thanks in advanced."

"I remain largely uninformed about thread sizes and such so I chose to go with the older 4 bolt flange. That choice made my brain hurt less.

I drilled the pattern into the keg. Tapped a some threads into the keg (which were only to hold my bolts in position more precisely), then threaded the bolt in from the interior side of the keg and welded."

Yeah, sifting through a million web pages of heating elements, couplings and thread choices just about fried my noggin to, lol. I'll probably end up going with the flange style as well, but I'd like to hear from some other people who have the screw in threads to, just to see how they did it. I know it's possible, I've seen the pics. I need an aspirin, lol.

Spraybomb,
Take a look at this thread. It's where I converted my gas fired keg to electric. I also list the weld in parts you will need..
